María Fernanda Melgarejo-Ainsworth leads our team and is the founding partner of Melga Law, PLLC. She believes that a multidisciplinary/multilingual team serves our clients more efficiently and effectively. For this reason, she has developed a strategic alliance with the Law Firm of Ainsworth + Clancy and its team of experts in business law and commercial disputes.

The personal history of our leader as a professional and immigrant entrepreneur in the United States allows her to relate to her clients’ challenges and guide them to achieve the best result. Born in Paraguay, Attorney Melgarejo-Ainsworth resided in Spain and Colombia before living in Miami, Florida.

Attorney Melgarejo-Ainsworth represents clients in the entire United States and abroad in all areas of U.S. business immigration and naturalization as well as matters related to Florida business law. She has extensive experience in advising foreign investors, entrepreneurs, and professionals in the arts, entertainment, sports, sciences, and business industries.

Attorney Melgarejo-Ainsworth has been invited as a legal expert in major international media including: La Nacion (Argentina), La Nacion (Paraguay), NTN24 (Colombia), 5 Dias, C9N Paraguay, GEN TV, ABC Color, Radio ASPEN, Paraguay TV, Radio Nacional del Paraguay, Universo 970 AM, and Radio Primero de Marzo.

Licensed by the Florida Supreme Court, Attorney Melgarejo-Ainsworth holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Miami, a Master’s Degree in Latin American Studies from the University of Salamanca (Spain) and the equivalent of a Bachelor in Laws (graduated with honors) from the National University of Asunción.

As a law student at the University of Miami, Attorney Melgarejo-Ainsworth was a co-editor and team member representing the university at the Moot Madrid competition in Spain. She interned at the legal departments of MTV Latin America, Fox Latin American Channel, and served at various Miami-based law firms specialized in commercial, corporate, and immigration law.

During her studies at the University of Salamanca, Attorney Melgarejo-Ainsworth was a Carolina Foundation scholar and volunteered for the Salamanca Latina initiative to promote and include Latin American culture in Spain.

Our founding member is also licensed by the Supreme Court of Justice of Paraguay. In Paraguay, she served in the Bankruptcy Magistrate Office, the Public Defender’s Office, and the Criminal Court.

Passionate about learning from other cultures, Attorney Melgarejo-Ainsworth has traveled around the world. She has an excellent command of Spanish and English, and due to her studies at the Dante Alighieri School, she understands the Italian language and culture. Because she has traveled to Brazil since her teen years, she also understands the Brazilian culture and Portuguese language.
