María Fernanda Melgarejo-Ainsworth leads our team and is the founding partner of Melga Law, PLLC. She believes that a multidisciplinary/multilingual team serves our clients more efficiently and effectively. For this reason, she has developed a strategic alliance with the Law Firm of Ainsworth + Clancy and its team of experts in business law and commercial disputes.
The personal history of our leader as a professional and immigrant entrepreneur in the United States allows her to relate to her clients’ challenges and guide them to achieve the best result. Born in Paraguay, Attorney Melgarejo-Ainsworth resided in Spain and Colombia before living in Miami, Florida.
Attorney Melgarejo-Ainsworth represents clients in the entire United States and abroad in all areas of U.S. business immigration and naturalization as well as matters related to Florida business law. She has extensive experience in advising foreign investors, entrepreneurs, and professionals in the arts, entertainment, sports, sciences, and business industries.

Licensed by the Florida Supreme Court, Attorney Melgarejo-Ainsworth holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Miami, a Master’s Degree in Latin American Studies from the University of Salamanca (Spain) and the equivalent of a Bachelor in Laws (graduated with honors) from the National University of Asunción.
As a law student at the University of Miami, Attorney Melgarejo-Ainsworth was a co-editor and team member representing the university at the Moot Madrid competition in Spain. She interned at the legal departments of MTV Latin America, Fox Latin American Channel, and served at various Miami-based law firms specialized in commercial, corporate, and immigration law.
During her studies at the University of Salamanca, Attorney Melgarejo-Ainsworth was a Carolina Foundation scholar and volunteered for the Salamanca Latina initiative to promote and include Latin American culture in Spain.
Our founding member is also licensed by the Supreme Court of Justice of Paraguay. In Paraguay, she served in the Bankruptcy Magistrate Office, the Public Defender’s Office, and the Criminal Court.
Passionate about learning from other cultures, Attorney Melgarejo-Ainsworth has traveled around the world. She has an excellent command of Spanish and English, and due to her studies at the Dante Alighieri School, she understands the Italian language and culture. Because she has traveled to Brazil since her teen years, she also understands the Brazilian culture and Portuguese language.
Gianni Piantini is an Associate Attorney at Melga Law, PLLC, who specializes in business immigration, representing individuals, employers, and corporate clients in U.S. immigration matters, nationwide and overseas.
She has attained over 6 years of experience in the field, focusing on employment-based immigrant and nonimmigrant visas for a wide range of clients, including entertainers, athletes, educators, scientists, entrepreneurs, and investors.
Gianni graduated summa cum laude from St. Thomas University School of Law in May 2020, where she was the class valedictorian. Throughout her law school career, Gianni excelled in several areas of law school, earning multiple CALI Excellence awards and an Excellence in Intellectual Property Award.
Gianni has had the distinction of serving as the Honorable Judge Fleur J. Lobree’s first judicial intern at the Third District Court of Appeal of Florida, and as a law clerk in the Narcotics Division of the United States Attorney’s Office in Miami.
In addition, she was an active member of numerous organizations. She served in an editorial role as the Senior Articles Editor of the St. Thomas Law Review, where she published an article on the Fourth Amendment and ICE workplace raids. Gianni also served as an Academic Success Program Fellow, President of the Entertainment and Sports Law Society, Vice President of Pro Bono and Events of the Immigration Law Students Association, and Secretary of the Intellectual Property and Cyber Law Society.
As the daughter of Cuban and Dominican immigrants, Gianni is fluent in Spanish.
María Elena González Ortiz is an administrative assistant at Melga Law, PLLC, where she is responsible for prompt, efficient, and high-quality customer service. She also provides support in the preparation of different cases that the firm works on.
Elena has over ten years of experience in the administrative area, where she worked with different companies and organizations in Paraguay. Her training in various fields, such as labor law, accounting, public and human relations, commercial and administrative writing, marketing, and information technology, allow her to efficiently complement the services we provide.
In 2010, she received her Senior Executive Secretary certificate from the Netsys Training Institute and in 2017, she took courses related to finance, legal procedures, and communication at the Kolping Institute Paraguay. She is currently studying Digital Marketing at the Institute of Design and Technology (IDT) and specializes in English at the Paraguayan-American Cultural Center of Asunción, Paraguay.
Born in Argentina and having Paraguayan nationality, Elena plays a key role in serving our international clients, thanks to her command of Spanish as a first language, her knowledge of the English language, and her excellent customer service skills.
